Monkhead was founded in 2017 by nico pimparé and chloë myerson. Our theatre work has received critical acclaim and been staged at the Young Vic (Freshworks),the Bunker Theatre, voice4thought international festival dakar, Theatre N16 and the Blue Elephant Theatre. Our debut film the start of nothing will have its world premiere at BAFTA-qualifying london short film festival 2021.

Nico

Nico Rao Pimparé is a British-Indian-French film and theatre director, actor and ex-physicist.

His recent production of DIARY OF A SOMEBODY received ★★★★★ from The Guardian and sold out for its six week run at the Seven Dials Playhouse.

As a theatre director, his credits include DIARY OF A SOMEBODY (Seven Dials Playhouse), RAINER (Arcola Theatre), CANDY (King’s Head Theatre, ZOOTV, UnderbellyNottingham PlayhouseNew Wimbledon TheatrePark Theatre), REBOOT: SHORTS 2 (Bunker Theatre), THE INTERPRETATION OF DREAMS (Bunker Theatre), JULES CÉSAR (Voice4Thought International Festival, Dakar), DEAD SOULS (Theatre N16), NOZDRYOV (Young Vic, Freshworks). He has also directed final year productions at LAMDA and East 15.

His debut short film The Start of Nothing had its world premiere at BAFTA-qualifying London Short Film Festival and went on to screen at festivals across the world, winning best short at the Love Story Film Festival. His second short film THEY JUST USE THE SKY, shot on ARRI, is currently entering the festival circuit. His feature film LOVE AND OTHER PHENOMENA is in development with the BFI.

He is also an actor, with credits in high-profile Hollywood films, UK and European TV & Feature productions, as well theatres across the UK.

Chloë

Chloë is a TV and theatre writer from South London, recently profiled in the New York Times.

She is represented by The Agency and is currently on the BBC Studios Writers’ Academy, having been selected from nearly 2000 participants.

She is an alumni of Channel 4’s 4SCREENWRITING Course 2020. She has been long-listed for the Old Vic 12 award, the Papatango New Writing Prize and the National Poetry Award. Her work has been performed at the Bunker Theatre, Vault Festival, the Young Vic (Freshworks) and the Blue Elephant.

Her first full-length play, Dead Souls at Theatre N16, received critical acclaim. Her debut film The Start of Nothing had its world premiere at BAFTA-qualifying London Short Film Festival 2021. In 2023, Chloë’s play CLASS was one of five plays shortlisted from 1700 entries for the Yale Drama Series Award, and won Chloë a place on the Gucci x Substratum Writers’ Residency led by the award’s president, Jeremy O. Harris, and featuring mentors including Rebecca Hall, Lena Dunham and Jordan Tannahill.
